Lack of sound 3650

I have a Compaq 3650 which has just lost sound, except for the headphone. I have checked all settings and even reset the unit to no avail. Compag says $120 to fix! I guess I can live without sound at that price. Or I may take it apart and look for loose wires. Any help is appreciated.:)

I had the same problem with my 3650. Mine started after I plugged in a headphone adapter. I contacted Compaq and they stated that there was a hardware problem due to manufacturing and a certain batch had this problem. Luckily, mine was still under warranty when this happened and I had a replacement unit in three days. Maybe if you get Compaq/HP to admit it is a manufacturing defect they will help you out.
