I am using an IPAQ 3650, with the PCMCIA expansion slot, and a Cisco Aironet 340 wireless card. I have installed the latest drivers/firmware for PocketPC 02 from cisco, setup my WEP keys, essid, etc, and I can associate to my Cisco Access Point at the office. However, I am having an issue where the Cisco ACU does not properly pull a DHCP address, nor can I manually set an IP/gateway and ping anything.

has anyone seen issues like this? From what I can tell, the WAP seems to think the ipaq is connected to it properly, it shows its connection, shows the MAC adress of the IPAQ, etc, just doesn't hand out an IP.

I've taken this same net card and tossed it into my laptop, which will talk to the AP and get an IP/get online successfully, so I don't believe it to be a card issue, so much as a software/configuration/pocketpc issue.

anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!
Nick

I did some more testing, and I still cannot access the network at work using DHCP or setting an IP via the IPAQ, however the wifi card works fine in a laptop on our network (mirrored all of the same settings using the cisco ACU).

I took the IPAQ home and tested it there, and I got on the net pretty easily, so its definitely something site specific. If I can figure it out, I will post it here for the good of the world.. or something ;)

Got it! I did some testing and... I thought at first that if you didnt have the WEP key properly set, the WAP wouldnt even let you associate to it, however I was wrong. I put in some bunk wep keys, and I could still associate with the WAP.

So, (hard to believe, i know) I must have fat fingered the 26 digit HEX wep key i had to enter.. I put it in again today, and triple checked it, and i authenticated properly!

WOOHOO.
