I received my iQue on Friday and over the weekend discovered the following problem under "Security." If one has assigned a password and has the "Auto Lock Handheld" set to anything else, except "Never," the unit will turn off in the cradle, regardless of whether the box is checked to stay on in the cradle. Additionally, on several occasions, after turning off, it would not turn on again, until I did a soft reset. I am wondering, if anyone else has had this problem.

Sure... see my thread; "Security Password while GPSing"

However, I'm not having the power on problems that you are reporting.
I really want to use the password feature, but find it useless since it causes the unit to continuously shut off. I already left a message with Garmin's tech support. They (Garmin) have been very good in their Customer Service department.

Thank you for your reply. If your iQue is set under "Security" to "Auto Lock Hand Held: Never," do you still have this problem?

This is by design in the Palm OS.
If you protect the device with a password it will also shut off in the craddle. I sort of understand the logic: if your device has such sentitive data so that you want to protect it with a password, you wouldn't want it to stay on forever in the craddle, allowing others access to your data.

While I understand what you're saying, this is still a little crazy to me. Why bother to have the time-out setting where you determine how long the unit stays on if enabling the password will cause it to cut off every three minutes anyway?

Auto-lock won't activate when I set it for longer than 2 minutes. I select auto-lock after X minutes, wait X minutes, and the unit still powers on without requiring a password. This happens eventhough the GPS is off. Is anyone else experiencing this?

No, I don't think so. I'm using a locking program called TealLock by Tealpoint software. I seems to be supported, but for some reason once in a while, maybe a couple of times the system started with the palm security page, which I had set to NEVER.
I'm not sure if it's operator error or if I'm experiencing some application - OS glitches.
