On my 28th installed application, my Buttons panel in the Preferences says that all of my buttons are "not assigned." Worse, when I search, it only searches the open application, not the entire Palm. I deleted one application (a game I never played) and everything went back to normal.

I still have over 9mb free on my m515 and I'd like to continue loading it with software. Has anyone else had this problem?

HI,
I think you found the offending application and removed it.
The actual number of apps that are well designed and not offensive the OS is pretty unlimited. I have 58 active apps on my 515 with about 7 zipped apps in the freezer.
There is an excellent little free app called HackFinder. Try eurocool.com for a download. Even if you do not use hacks hackfinder will tell you which apps on your palm have their fingers in the OS. It is a great way to find an offending app without taking off all your apps and putting them back on one by one.

I hope that was the offending app. If so, what a stroke of luck. I was afraid I was up against a limitation in the Palm OS. I'm glad to hear you have so many apps installed on your Palm.

Thank you.

On my Palm m505, I've got 55 apps, 2 hacks, and enough family pictures to put you into a deep sleep after about 10 minutes of showing on SplashPhoto! ;-) ... And I still have 43 MB free on a 64 MB SD card. Palm OS apps are generally more memory efficient compared to PocketPC apps.

I had a problem similar to yours in that an application was causing my Palm to crash predictably (I was getting Fatal Exception errors.) After removing that app and doing a warm reset, everything worked fine. Sounds like you've resolved your conflict, too. Congrats!

Remember that reset advice OLDBlue gave. After any software related event on your palm it is wise to do at least a soft reset.
Not unlike removing software from the POC and then doing a Restart.
