I am looking for an ethernet+modem combination for my Netbook, is the only supported card still the Psion LanGlobal 10/100 Ethernet + 56K still the only fully supported card are are there alternatives or more affortable solutions?

Yes, but it wasn't absolutely clear to me if there were otehr pcmcia cards which combines a modem and etheret suitable for the Netbook and since the purchase price of such a card isn't exactly low I like to be really sure ;).

No problem Mike, I got Diem's URL from teh theard you described and found the matrix he is keeping very usefull. It looks like the Goldcards are stil the only dual interface cards for the netbook. Is anyone aware of what communication speeds the goldcards are able to obtain, in previous theards I read numbers of 80-120Kb/s).

Hi pliskens,

Yes, the speeds you've seen have been obtained doing FTP downloads thru Opera to the C drive. There's an apparent bug that brings the speed down to a crawl when downloading to D, and nFTP is not as quick (software routines slower) as Opera.

To answer your original question, AFAIK only the Psion CombineIT and Dacom combi cards are supported by netBook.

Pliskens,

Keep an eye on Ebay as I just managed to get a CombineIT card for £60 including cables so bargins can be found out there.

Also if anyone else reads this thread and has a Netbook or 7Book aswell as access to any other brand of combined Modem-Lan/LAN or even Wireless LAN cards, chuck it in and see if you can get it to work. The more people that try, then the more info we can post here or on Yan's site. Most people have a laptop these days so if you have know someone with one ask to borrow their card !!
