My Palm Vx is stuck in a boot loop. Last night I turned the unit on and it worked fine but it would not turn off via the power button.

The unit turned off after the time setting (2 mins). But this morning when I turned it on the "palm powered" logo was the only thing I could get..

It will not do a hard reset (unit needs to be off to do this?). The most I've been able to do is to get it into debug (reset + scroll down).

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jon

Some times a warm reset can break a LOOP that a hard reset can't touch. Try a warm rest, hold the scroll UP and push the reset pin.

Thanks, I actually gave up and reflashed the unit from the debug screen. No big deal, I only lost a few updates since my last sync.

Thanks

How did you "reflash the unit from the debug screen" ? Do you have the ROm for your unit ? I have a similar problem and want to do the same but don't have the original ROM as its not enclosed with the sent CD.

I tried to do the re-install from a Windows XP machine with the OS 4.1 upgrade but it doesn't like XP. So I went across to a Windows 2000 machine and all was ok except that it then wants you to do a hotsync backup. But this doesn't work because the device is in a boot loop. So I went to the debug screen (scroll down button on soft reset ?) - but I don't get a flashing square on my M515 screen - just blank so that doesn't work either.

Just wanted to confirm that you were using the ROM for your unit and not an upgrade ?
