Has anybody seen anything more precise as to release date of the next generation BBīs? RIMīs website losely states that they will be released in the fall of 2002. I am particularly interested in the dual/tri band version...

The 6710 is supposed to be out this fall. It's a dual band 900/1900 device that should work in North America and most places in Europe+Asia. I believe the first launch will be in a few weeks in Canada with Rogers AT&T. I'd guess that other carriers such as AT&T and Voicestream (in the US) will follow shortly. End of November is probably a "latest date" guess for most of these guys. Nobody knows for sure though.

Question for others: One thing I realized is that these new BlackBerry phones won't be able to handle AMPS networks (ie, analog)...so when you are out of town or on a country golf course, coverage might be non-existent for the phone where as with a normal phone, it would go into analog mode. Will this bother anyone?

Good Luck getting a firm date from RIM on when the next release will be coming. They have also ALIENATED the 3rd Party vendors that they swore would always be able to develop applications for the next generation devices. RIM believes they can do it all, and because of this, haven't released API's for developers. I heard that they DON'T EVER PLAN TO DO SO!

Anybody heard anything different?
