I am trying to start afresh with my Palm IIIc. It has teal lock on and I can't get it off.

So, I've been recommended to flash. However, I've not been able to find an OS anywhere, other than the one in my machine.

So, I've used the Psion emulator to extract the ROM. But, the image won't run in the emulator, and the flash tools that I have says that there is something wrong with the file and won't convert it.

Does anyone have any ideas or assistance?

Thanks

well it is around somewhere (here :D) but as for board policy people are not allowed to give links to illegal stuff and since you are asking for something that you should pay for (palm asks $$$ for about everything  ) i cannot post a link on the board. even if palm is not willing to supply.

I don't want anything illegal - just help. I'm a legitimate owner of a Palm that needs a complete wipe to get it working ok again.

Tealpoint software haven't been much help. All I ask is for some help in removing the software from the system.

I have made a legal backup of my own OS to my PC, but this won't run in the emulator or upload back to the Palm - something about being corrupt.

I do have a Palm ROM image that I found on the net, but this doesn't have the right file size, so I can't use that either.

I just want an easy solution without having to pay over $100 for Palm to do it and I don't want to buy another Palm when there is nothing wrong with this one!

your iiic rom would work great if you had the palm Vx flash tool. but, i can't tell you were to get it (besides buying it from palm).

Andy,
In order for you to flash your OS you need to be able to do a hotsync. During the first few micro seconds of the hotsync a stub is downloaded to your Palm to provide connection and to run the flash. Can you do HOtSYnc given your problem with TealLock?
I use OnlyMe as my lock and I have been very pleased with the support. Did Teal tell you that your only route was to flash the OS?
Can you delete all the data off the Palm using your Psion Emulator? Was TealPoint kind enough to tell you where the password is located?

PS: Alex at Transoa.com is an expert on locking palms. I suggest you drop him an email to see if her has a clue or two.

I can hotsync, but if it needs to reset after syncing then it locks.

Tealpoint have said that I will need to flash the OS. They haven't given me any technical information. They seem to think Teal Lock has been moved to flash RAM.

I may have stumbled on a fix though, simply be just installing Teal Lock again. It seems to have worked so far, Teal Lock is off as deafult rather than being on. But, it still refuses to be deleted from the Palm.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Fingers crossed, it may be sorted and I can now begin to enjoy my palm without worrying that it will come on locked!

Andy,
I had some eWords with Sara at TealPoint and she advised me that TealLock is in Flash Rom on your Palm. Is that correct? If so is the app that installed it into Flash still on the Palm? Look for FlashPro (Icon a Lightning Bolt) or JackFlash. If present you should be able to move TealLock out of Flash. If the Flash Utility has been deleted you have no choice but to reflash the OS. If that is the case I would suggest paying the $29 or what ever the amount is to Plam for the OS Upgrade CD so you can be sure that your new ROM is correct and clean.
Please update me on the answers to these questions.

I've run Jackflash lite which says I have flashpro installed (although I can't see it listed anywhere), when it runs, it doesn't say anything about Teal Lock being in flash RAM, but I suspect that it is.

So far though, installing a newer version of Teal Lock seems to be overriding it.

But, to be sure I'll probably invest in FlashPro and also a Palm upgrade CD.

Thanks again.

Andy

If JackFlash is telling you FlashPro is present but you do not see it in your file manager or as an icon then the flash rom was formated by FlashPro and in all likely hood TealLock is there. I suggest you contact HandEra tech support and see if you will be able to install FlashPro and see the files in Flash without reformating. I beleive the file created when FlashPro installs is left in Flash ROM. IF so the next install of FlashPro should be able to read it.
