First off is Yishow and silver screen the same basic concept. I am looking for software to change the background of my clie and maybe to get stuff to work better from the ms. if they are the same which is better. Also the $20 software from handango (Yishow) shows screen shots in japanese, does the prog come in both eng and japanese?

Don't know anything about Silver Screen but Yishow is great - been using it for a while now and its a huge improvement on the palm front end

Silverscreen isn't a background so much as it's a launcher. It's skinnable, so it makes your handheld look extra sharp, and it brings along some nice added features that you don't get with the Palm OS launcher the units come with. As much as I like Silverscreen, I've become a big fan of Megalauncher for use on my Clie. Lots of neat skins available and great functionality! Don't know much about Yishow myself, but the backgrounds are really impressive looking, so I might check it out eventually.

YiShow also has skins and backgrounds, it's in english as well as japanese and it has a built-in doc reader and jpg viewer, so no need to py extra for external programs, and you can browse to those files and click right on them instead of opening up a program (that you had to pay extra for) and finding it on a list.

I got a trial version of Yishow and a skin to put in but there is no instructions on how to put the skin on the clie. Any info would be great. Also is it possible to make origional skins for yishow?
If you have a Memory Stick ...
Just launch "MS Import" on the Clie, so your Stick shows up as a virtual drive on the PC. Then just open the drive on the PC and put a BMP, PCX, JPG, GIF, etc., file somewhere on the memory stick.
Then from within Yishow, use the built-in file manager to navigate to the image, tap on the icon next to the filename, and a menu will pop up. Tap on "BackImage", and it will change your background. If you change your mind, "Delete Background" is on the Options menu.
If you don't have a Memory Stick ...
You will have to convert the image to a PGP-format ".PRC" file and sync the Clie to put in into the Clie's main memory. I believe all Clie's come with a CD with the PictureGear software for the PC. You can use that software to select an image file, then use "Output Services" on the File menu to send it the file sync list.
Then, just click on the PGP icon on the lower left of the Yishow control panel, and you should see the image icon. Tap-and-hold on the icon for a half-second or so and the same menu will come up ... select "BackImage".
I'm sorry ... I just realized I answered the wrong question! The question was about Yishow skins ... and I responded about how to use background images. <doh!>
Skins should be very simple ... the skin should have come as a ".PRC" file. Just sync it to the Clie, and YiShow should automatically find it and use it. You may have to choose "Reload Skin" from the Options menu. If you change your mind, "Delete Skin" is there, too.
Instructions for making your own YiShow skins can be found here:
http://www.anc.meta.ne.jp/~yibing/english/yishow_skin_e.htm
You will need some compiler tools, like CodeWarrior or the Cygwin compilers, since you are compiling a ".PRC" file with all the images and their resource IDs.
