I have a DSL cable connection that I use with my laptop at home. If I wish to connect to the internet with my iPAQ 5555 is the best solution to put a wireless router on the cable and use the WiFi or buy a bluetooth board for my laptop and I understand I can then access the internet via iPAQ bluetooth. Which way would I get the best speed and if bluetooth is the way to go what type of device do I get for my laptop.
Thanks for all your great and helpfull feedback.

I would say wi-fi because 1) it's faster and 2) it has longer range. But it is more expensive(unless you find stuff on sale).

Decent 802.11b wireless access points can be obtained for sub $100 these days. Keep in mind that additional features, such as 802.11g/a access, firewalls, VPN passthrough, etc., though wholly inapplicable to your handheld, can be obtained for about twice as much. Bluetooth hardware, unless native to the system in question, can run as much as $75 for just a PCMCIA card and allows for only 1 to 1 connectivity. This means that while your device is paired and communicating over Bluetooth, it cannot communicate with any other Bluetooth device. 802.11b does not have this limitation.

I purchased a Ambicom 802.11b wi-fi card for my ipaq 3835 and have a Syslink wireless access point. I can connect my PDA to the desktop and active-sync but I can't do anything else. I want to control the desktop from the PDA and use the desktop's modem. Is this possible and if so, what to I need to do?
Any advise would be appreciated.

Remote control is done through the XP native remote control application; modem sharing will be done via bluetooth or some kind of modem sharing application, though bluetooth is probably your best bet to have that happen.

Is XP native remote control application found in XP Home edition or only in Professional?

As far as I know, both.

The remote control server is on all xp versions but the viewer is only on pro version. So a proversiopn can remotecontroll other pcs, but a home version can only be controled.
