I just joined this board because Ive had my Ique3600 for about a week now and am trying to find some answers. I noticed that you had problems getting some of your old Palm apps running on the Ique. When I first loaded the Ique Palm Desktop s/w it asked me if I wanted to remove an older version of the Palm Desktop, Im upgrading from a 2yr old Palm M500, it pretty much gave me no choice but to remove the old version otherwise I had to cancel out of the installation. After, I was surprise to see all of my Memopad notes, Addresses, Games etc. transferred over to my Ique and were working. One Apps I noticed that did not transfer was the NotePad which I used pretty often and have many important notes still on my M500. After all of your attempts to getting things to run right on your Garmin, is the Palm NotePad apps functioning on your Ique now? I asked tech support and he got confused and said Garmin calls this function "MemoPad" which both you and I know are 2 seperate applications. Now tech support says that the NotPad function is not supported on the Ique and referred me to a site with free s/w similar to the Palm NotePad apps. I havent downloaded any of these 3rd party s/w because I know my M500 NotePad notes will not transfer and work with other s/w. Please let me know if you got the original Palm NotePad apps to work on the Ique. -thanks

Hi Maytag21, the issues I was having were a little different as I did not try to get my old apps into the Q, but the issue was most on the icons not showing up correctly ("E" icon instead of the normal one) and not being able to work; as they frooze up. After all the install I finally got everything to work. I do have the Notepad icon and the garmin Memopad and both work, but I have not tried to see if notepad will sync with the Q. Today when I get home I will right something on the notepad and see if it will sync with the Q.

By the way, I had some notes on my Q and when I sync'd the unit last night, they appeared in the memopad, but not on the notepad. Like I said, I'll try it out tonight and let you know.

That's all I need to get working. Just wondering, when you first powered up the Ique w/out loading anything and fresh out of the box, was the NotePad icon already on the Ique's standard Apps?(mine never even had the icon on the screen, or I didnt notice) Once I somehow get NotePad loaded and functioning, I'll finally give the M500 the boot. Right now after a few hard lockups the 1st few days, the Ique has been working solid. I'm almost afraid to try what you did with the Garmin on top of Palm Desktop load sequence.

You might want to try this:

Back up your Q, then set a recovery point (if your using Windows XP) and the try it, this way if something goes wrong you can come back to what you had before.

I used Note Pad from my Zire71 and it worked, two files needs to transfer one is Note Pad (~83k) other is Note Pad_enUS (~10k).
useing the program call Filez and IR.
