I got a PEG-SJ20 (16MB)
I was wondering what memory stick to buy. Should I go all out with a 128MB? Is it even worth it for the long run, or should I get a 16MB...or 32MB..or 64MB?
I have an sl10, and I just picked up a 32 mb stick from buy.com for $22 with shipping. You could go for something higher, but I doubt that there will be all that much stuff to put on the stick. I have the Noah Lite dictionary and several games, a few huge books and a full backup, and I still have over 16 megs left. You can find a 128 meg stick at dell.com for cheap as well, but I'm not sure you'd ever need that much space unless you need to play mp3s.

Bigger is always better when it comes to memory. The programs and utilities of tomorrow will continue to grow in size. Go for the gusto, 128mb.

I started out with a 32 MB card, and found myself picking up the 128 MB shortly thereafter. A lot of the decision depends upon how many 3rd party applications you're into and how large they are, but I'd have to agree with garymazza -- bigger is definitely better when it comes to memory. Found that out first hand myself!

DJ Zaki, You are right that the Sony SJ20 doesn't play mp3's although there is an add on that allows it to play mp3s. It is around $80 to 100 and plugs in the port at the bottom of your clie and lets you play mp3's from memory stick. :)
Check out www.sony.com then find the clie details then the sony shop then the accessories..

Ask yourself how valuable your data is.
If you are mobile and carry a lot of important data in your CLIE, buy two memory sticks. One 16Mb for backup only, and, a second stick for applications, music or whatever other files you want to carry. (Hot sync will not get everything in RAM.)
Use the 16Mb card ONLY for MSBackup (or equivalent application,) and backup frequently. By doing this, you will always have room for a full backup of your RAM databases and applications. This leaves the second stick free for whatever purpose you want with no temptation to, or worry about, overwriting you backups.
I generally agree with the others above who suggest that buying a large stick is a good idea. (Data has a disconcerting way of growing...) However, think about your requirements. If you have several applications which share nothing, then it might be wise to buy several small sticks and dedicate them to specific applications.

Go with 128mb esp. if you want any reference material and or books (dictionaries and books can run up to 10+mb a peice). 128s are selling for around $40.
