Can data be transfered directly between the 5mx and series 7 with out using a PC as an intermeditory? May purchase a series 7 and keep the 5mx! Much easier boards to use now (bucking the trend a bit), like them. Thanks Nigel

Yes, just beam files across by Infrared.

I have a revo and a 7 and I find that they complement each other well. My revo sits on a docking station at work most of the day, is always backed up and goes with me when I move around. My 7 connects mainly to the internet, only comes with me when I move location for more than a few hours, and is only backed up to a flash card occasionally. Files on my Revo are considered masters but are mostly edited on the 7 because of the keyboard and screen. It follows that I regularly transfer files between them and I have never had a problem.

Hi Nigel,

Mike is right in that the easiest way of passing files across is by infrared. Unfortunately, ER5 only allows you to pass single files at a time which can be a bit tedious.

I too bought a 7 to compliment my 5mx which has been a faithfull companion (must remember to get some friends). To ensure that they are both up to date I use EpocSync which is a great (and free) app which allows you to sunchronise any files you want automatically at a touch of the screen.

Check out http://www.freepoc.de/EpocSync.htm for info

<<Unfortunately, Epoc 5 only allows you to pass single files at a time which can be a bit tedious.>>

The original Series 5 (ER2 or 3) only allows the transfer of single files.

ER5 as used in the 5mx, Revo, S7 etc does support the transfer of selected multiple files by Infrared.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

So it does. Must have been thinking of my old 5series (god rest it's soul). See you can still learn stuff on this new and improved forum!!

Cheers Mike

How about using copy disc to copy 5mx internal disc to CF card and putting CF in 7 and copy/paste files you want to 7 internal disc. Alternatively back up 5mx and use Psiwin to copy files to 7 from backup directory (C\Epoc\s5mx on my pc). I seem to remember using CF method using 2nd slot on 7 and PCMIA adapter.
