Lowell2006 09-06-2003, 02:04 PM I had the same problem, rechecked the hp website, and found that their software for allowing IR printing is not compatible with the P1000.... only the P1250 and above... it suxs i know larkett 09-06-2003, 02:18 PM That definitely sucks about the incompatibility! How would I go about printing when the ipaq is in the cradle? Any/all help is greatly appreciated. Gigsh 09-07-2003, 02:12 AM Upload the file to your desktop and print from there. RTAdams89 09-07-2003, 11:33 AM I have a HP Deskjet 895CSE. When i try to set it up as a network printer it askes for the model and 8955cse isn't listed. I've tried picking 900 and other models but none work. Is there a way i can downlaod support for the 895cse Or am i out of luck? dwinget 09-07-2003, 08:47 PM The DeskJet 870 driver works for the 895. The 895CXi driver might also work. To print directly to the printer, you would need to add an infrared adapter to the printer. I can't think of any specific adapter names right now, but I know there are some IR adapters which plug onto the parallel connector. There are also Bluetooth adapters. Sometimes, the adapters include the printer drivers for the Pocket PC. To print over a network, you could try connecting the printer to a print server box similar to the Intel NetPort Express. RTAdams89 09-07-2003, 08:56 PM The HP mobile printing program dosn't have the 870 or the 895cxi listed dwinget 09-08-2003, 02:54 AM Sorry, I did not realise that those models weren't listed. I know on the desktop version of Windows, those drivers worked. I don't know if this printer is listed or not, but there is a good chance the LaserJet 3 works for black and white printing on the DeskJet 895. Some of the DeskJet models will work with a LaserJet driver. You can also check on HP's web page or the printer user manual for a list of emulation modes. JimmyFitz 09-08-2003, 07:33 PM The Photosmart 1000 has IR built in. I got mine to print once from my old Jornada 520 but there were extreme limitations which made it not very useful. First, you must find a program from HP called Jetsend Direct (or something like that). HP no longer supports it so you can't get it from them. I found a link on this board to a third party site where it was available (about a year ago.) You install it to the desktop, then PPC as usual. I tested it out by sending a photo and the printer responded by capturing it into its memory. I played with the printer buttons and got a postage stamp size copy in the far corner of the paper. I haven't tried to print directly since then, but I learned that I needed to select the photo I wanted otherwise it would print a sheet of thumbnails, as if I had inserted a memory card with multiple photos. So I think it would have printed full sized but I never tried it. I have since upgraded to an iPAQ and have not tried again. I don't know whether you can send other types of documents with Jetsend. I may still have a copy of Jetsend on an old hard drive if it isn't available online somewhere. I'd like to find out if it is worthwhile to reinstall it, also. Jimmy Iman74 09-09-2003, 12:18 PM Can you print in the cradle? I see no need to do that, so I suggest what the other person said, to just upload to the PC and then print. As far as printing with an Ipaq, if the printer has an infrared all you need to do is aim the Ipaq to the infrared and let it find it using the options in the HP printing software. The otherway is do a search for network printers if you have wireless capability and your Ipaq is configured for that LAN. I am sure, pretty soon there will be a port: USB or something else that we can plug a cable into it on the Ipaq side and then on the other side plug into a printer and do it that way too. But like I said that is from my own imagination but I doubt I am the only one that came up with it, and I am sure they are probably working on that now. PDA Street
