I have copies of the programmes Co-Build(dictionary) and Street (map of London) for my Psion 5mx which I downloaded from Psion about a year and a half ago. I have been using them perfectly for that time and they are stored on my D-Drive 32mb compact flash disks along with all my other programmes.

Now suddenly when I try to load either programme it says Application error - Please reinstall the application from your original CD-Rom.

This seems very odd. Can I do anything? I can not reinstall the application as I downloaded it and unfortunately my laptop with all the original codes was accidentally formatted.

They were both very useful programmes for me and have now suddenly become unusable.

Thankyou in advance for your help.

Do you have a complete backup of your "C" and "D" drives in the PC from before the problem arose? Restoring files from this should sort the problem.

Yes I tried doing a restore from my pc onto the 5mx.
Still states same error message of asking to reinstall the application.

If they are on "D" drive, there will be an .INI file in the C:\System\Apps\(program_name)\ folder. Try deleting the .INI file, perform a 'soft' reset for good measure and see if that helps.

Thanks for suggestion....seems not to have worked though.

Tried deleting the relevant file...I went to D disk, entered system, apps, found INI file and deleted on CO-BUILD (dictionary) but couldn't find the file on the STREET file.

Nevertheless.still saying 'application error please reinstall the application from your original CD-rom'

Any other suggestions?

Any other suggestions? Not really :(

Have you recently removed any applications which might at the same time have removed shared .OPX files, thereby preventing your two programs from running?

I don't think so.
Thanks anyway.
Suppose i will have to contact the software companies and try to get them to let me download them again.
