Sorry for the newbie question here... I just switched from an old Palm Pilot to an iPAQ 2215. I'm just curious about how to access AvantGo pages.
I've gone through the whole setup process on their site and everything seems to be synching properly. Pages are downloading and ActiveSynch 3.7 is transferring them to the iPAQ. At least I think it is, as I have no idea WHERE or with what to read the pages. On my old Palm Pilot there was a specific app for this but I cannot find same on the iPAQ.
What do I use to find/see/read the pages from AvantGo
Thank you oh iPAQ gods...

to view avantgo channels:
Tap Start
Tap Programs
Tap the Avantgo icon
or just open internet explorer and
and tap the favourites icon (looks like a 5 pointed star on the bottom bar of the screen) select Avantgo channels
make sure internet is select in the pass through option of activesync options| rules tab

This may be part of the problem...
There is no AvantGo icon in my programs folder...
I have however made one change:
make sure internet is select in the pass through option of activesync options| rules tab
It was set to "work" ... and I changed it to internet but it had no effect... I still have no idea how to view the AvantGo pages...
I should clarify that I wish to read the pages offline... as I don't have wireless access beyond bluetooth...
Go to IE, tap the favorite (star) , you should see Avantgo there. Tap it and you should see all your links there.

I went to the star and there is nothing there under the AvantGo link except the agdefault.htm page... no AvantGo links...just test saying how wonderful it can be... I think I may have a faulty install of AvantGo (the one installed with the OS)... how do I update it... AvantGo says their software is included with PocketPC 2003... how does one update this animal?

I believe you can go to their site, sign in with your account and then download the latest version of the software.
Once installed it should be listed in the Favorites folder of IE

updated software at avantgo site. did the configuration. which when i do this it gives me an error code and says that i have missing info - host 00 site 00
as you ,i know i am missing something and just can't understand where it is . any help would be greatly appreicated. i am not very techy so any info will have to be in the simplest language
thanks:cool:
Yes, you have to sign up an account on the Avantgo. Have you check the option on Activesync to sync the Avantgo? It is under the "option". You should be able to see file transfering when you sync under Avango.

It synchonises fine... I just can't see the pages it downloads. And if I try to get the "latest" software for my device the AvantGo site just tells me that AvantGo is included with PocketPC OS 2003.
Does anyone think I can use the AvantGo install for OS 2002 without problems?

I have it working. THis is probly obvious to you but did you put in your user name and password on the avantgo client on your pc. By default it has like anon8231231 for hte user name which is just an anonimous account.
Philips,
I am using 2215 running 2003, so you don't need to downgrade the OS. Should work fine right out of the box.
Can you use Pocket IE to surf the web? I don't have any Bluetooth device so I disable BT on my device. When it is connect to the sync cradle I can surf the web. I am just checking to see if Pocket IE is working or not.
During sign up accunt process, I remeber Avantgo will ask you to put the device on the sync cradle, have you done that?

I am able to surf while connected to the desktop via the usb cradle....
AvantGo syncs just fine ... but the pages don't show up anywhere...via favorites...whatever. Even when the iPAQ is in the cradle the favorite link to AvantGo Channels just goes to:
file://\windows\agdefault.htm
I'm starting to suspect I have not properly set PocketIE to work... How do I check that Pocket IE is working properly?
Thanks for your continued help oh iPAQ gurus...

I downloaded the latest version of AvantGo Integrated Client Setup.... the software full install. My iPAQ won't allow the install... tells me that a newer version is already installed.
Again... I can synchronise with the AvantGo site just fine. ActiveSync sees AvantGo... connects and updates the pages. I then go to Pocket IE and click the favorite... I end up with the page located at file://\windows\agdefault.htm
Does anyone have the address for the actual AvantGo browsing page to use on my iPAQ?
Thanks again oh wise ones...

try deleting the partnership of your device and the pc then make a new one. it solves synchronization problems in calendar, contacts, tasks and notes. it may help though.:(

I'm new to Pocket PC's. How do I delete the partnership? Is that essentially resetting my Pocket PC's relationship to the desktop?
Sorry for the newbie question.
:)
On the desktop Activesync, you can go to files -> delete partnership to delete the partnership. Then put the PPC back into the cradle, it will ask you question to establish partnership again.
If this still does not work, you might need to soft-reset or even hard-reset the ppc.

Hi,
I'm another newbie to Pocket PC that has has exactly the same problem. I've done some research, and it appears the problem occurs when you've had Avant Go previously installed (eg for a Palm). The solution I found (after tearing my hair out for many hours) was....
1. Remove AvantGo from your PC
2. Use Regedit to search for any registry entries that mentioned AvantGo, and delete them also.
3. Remove ActiveSync
4. Install Activesync
5. Hard reset the PPC (soft reset won't help).
6 Reinstall Avantgo
7 Enjoy
I haven't tried syncing my old Palm to the PC again, so I'm not sure what effect this will have.
Hope this is helpful for newbies,
Andy

Dear all,
Finally today, I Fixed it !!!! Thank all.
What my commet is : it's tooooooooo trivial on MicroXXXX product. As many PDA users' experience, there's never having such frastrated situation on Palm.
However, in PPC 2003, I can't find many many newbies come across many different kinds of problem, like me.
Anyways, my fix is :
1. uninstall the ActiveSync
2. uninstall the Avantgo client
3. Remove the whole Avantgo folder on PPC
4. hard reset on PPC
5. re-install the ActiveSyn
6. config Avantgo as shown in www.avantgo.com
Pls note that the Avantgo Integrated client is NOT suitable for PPC 2003, it's only for PPC 2002.
Once again, thank everybody make note here.
Special thank to Andy.
