Do they sync? Do I need additional software? I am looking and buying a Clie NR70. rosscw 10-02-2002, 08:11 PM Works fine with OSX BUT you have to buy Missing Sync, the Read Me file: "Thank you for choosing The Missing Sync from Mark/Space! Before installing this software, you should already have Palm Desktop for Macintosh version 4.0 or installed. Missing Sync 3.0 requires Palm Desktop 4.0. You can download Palm Desktop 4.0 from the following URL: <http://www.palm.com/support/macintosh/mac_desktop.html> Note: For Mac OS 9 and/or Palm Desktop 2, please use Missing Sync 2 (included with Missing Sync 3). Requirements: - Mac OS X, 10.1.4 or later - Palm Desktop 4.0, free download from <http://www.palm.com/support/macintosh/mac_desktop.html> - iTunes 2.0.4 or later, free download from <http://www.apple.com/itunes/> - iPhoto 1.1.1 or later, free download from <http://www.apple.com/iphoto/> Known Issues: - If a memory stick contains a DCIM folder, the iPhoto default imported plug-in will be used rather than the Missing Sync iPhoto importer. This is fine for importing JPG files, but as a result, you will not be able to import any PGP files that may be on the same stick. To use the Missing Sync importer to import PGP files, rename or remove the DCIM folder. - If you use the finder to "drag and drop" MP3 files to the memory stick, OS X will create tiny files that will cause Audio Player to display alerts. To avoid this, use the iTunes plug-in to copy MP3 files, not the Finder. __________________________________________________ ____________________ Installation Instructions: 1. Install Palm Desktop 4.0, free download from <http://www.palm.com/support/macintosh/mac_desktop.html> 2. Install iTunes 2.0.4 or later, free download from <http://www.apple.com/itunes/> 3. Install iPhoto 1.1.1 or later, free download from <http://www.apple.com/iphoto/> 4. For OS 4.0 and later (models such as 320, 415, 610, 650, 750, 760, 770, NR70) "Cradle/Cable" should be selected. Select the "Connection Settings" tab 3. Make sure "USB" connection is selected 4. Select the "HotSync Controls" tab 5. Select "Enabled" to enable HotSync 6. If not already pre-installed on the device (check first!), install "MS Import.prc" on your CLIƒ (it is on the Sony supplied CD-ROM for devices that do not include it pre-installed). 2. Connect your CLIƒ via USB cradle or cable. 3. Run MS Import on the CLIƒ. 4. Tap "Connect". 5. Your Memory Stick will now appear on the Mac OS desktop. 6. You can now treat your Memory Stick as a removable drive, as if it were a very large floppy disk. How should my 710 be set up to mount the Memory Stick on the Mac Desktop? 1. Install Audio Player 2.0 on your CLIƒ (it is on the included CD-ROM). The files to install are: - CLIE:CLIE:AUDIOP~1:AUDIOP~1.PRC - CLIE:CLIE:AUDIOP~1:AUDIOP~2.PRC - CLIE:CLIE:AUDIOP~1:UPDATE~1.PRC 2. Connect your CLIƒ via USB cradle or cable. 3. At this time, this feature is currently only supported on models that can run MS Import or Audio Player 2.0 (or later). This includes the 400/600/700/NR series. A future update to Missing Sync may add support for desktop mounting of the memory stick to additional models, such as the 300 series.
