still no hot sync:(

I tried everything to sync my 505, i even did the hard reset, redownloaded the desktop, but no answer:( i checked the palm.com and it says something about electrostatic thing in the cradle, but the palm is charging well, only not syncronizing:(:( is it possible that this elecrostatic thing can do this? please help me as i am very disappointed, that my beloved plam is down:( I ordered a new cradle from palm in the UK. any idea what is going on?

1. Do you know if your computer even recognizes that a cradle is installed? Does the sync icon appear on you task bar at the bottom right of your screen?

2. Have you tried disconnecting the hardware as well as re-installing the software. If so, what happens.

3. Have you checked the control panel settings for what it is saying about services to your USB devices. What is said?

4. Have you connected the cradle, and installed the software, on a different computer (e.g., a friend's machine)? If so, what happens?

If you help us out a bit more on what exactly you have done, and what you have tried (be please extremely explicit) it will help participants on this board track down your issues.

There is a static electric problem with the early m500 series cradles. The issue goes like this: the cradle fails to discharge the static pulse, the pulse damages the Palm. If in fact this has been your fate the cradle will not bring you peace and harmony. Or for that matter a good cathartic Hotsync. You may want to consider sending the cradle back if it is USB and swap for an M series SERIAL. I know that is a step back but the damaged component in the Palm is in the USB circuit. You should be able to sync with the serial.
