Please take this for what it is: an IPAQ user pointing out a good deal to his fellow enthusiasts. I have absolutely no connection to eCost.com other than the fact that I'm a frequent customer and recipient of their nearly daily spam... eCost is running a decent deal on 512M SD media which might be of some interest to you guys. Check it out...

Thanks for the tip. I saw the price on the SMART SD. Is that any different from SANDISK? Is it just another name brand? If it is that is screaming!:D

Smart is yet another manufacturer of memory that complies with the Secure Digital/Multimedia Card (SD/MMC) "standard". Compare with Mushkin vs. Crucial in the conventional SDRAM arena. Other manufacturers that I've seen include: PNY, Kingston, etc.

I have heard that you can use MMC in secure digital slots but not the other way. Can you confirm this?

MMC cards can be read in SD slots.
SD cards can NOT be read in MMC slots.

If you try to go the upsupported direction you'll note that SD has 1-2 too many pins and is just a hair too large for the MMC slot. (Personal experience based upon shoving an SD card into my old Nokia 3650 phone...heh...)
