Access to Backed Up Data

I might be just missing something (which I'm sure you will all tell me) but

How can you look at files you have backed-up on to your PC for example a "sheet" file in "excel" without having the Psion connected? :confused:

My Psion refused to start :( , thinking that I had lost all the data held on the Psion I tryed to view the last back-up on my PC. I found I couldn't if a psion was not linked to my PC.

Can you get a Psion emulator for a PC?

The Psion backup data on your PC is in EPOC format. In order to view it in Excel you will need to convert it, which you can do using the 'Convert Files' option you'll find on the Psiwin Start menu folder.

Alternatively, if you want to stay in Psion-land, there is indeed an emulator for Windows - it comes as part of the EPOC SDKs. Goto www.psionteklogix.com and join the Partner Program (free), and you'll find the SDKs under the netPad downloads section.
