Essentially, with Windows XP you should be using PsiWin 2.3.3 which can be downloaded from www.psion.com/MyPsion/Login.asp

I haven't actually tried 1.1 in my Win XP machine although I do have it installed in a Win 98SE PC. The file converters in 1.1 though are now very old as the program was written for Windows 3.1 (or possibly even earlier!)

Thankyou, I have tried the site but the version I am using is PsiWin 1.1. the upgrade only seems to be for v2.x.x.

Any other ideas?

Hi,

Its not an upgrade you're looking for - its the complete install for PsiWin2.3.3. Psion's file download area isn't the easist to use I'll agree, but it is there, honest!

This is a scary (if you're on a dialup) 25MB download, but is I'm afraid the only version of Psiwin compatible with Office 2000.

It does work because I can connect with my 3c and PsiWin 2.3.3 under Windows XP, although I have the Home Edition.

Set the speed in PsiWin "Properties" to 57600 as this is the maximum port speed of the 3c and obviously set the same speed in the 3c. Only the COM port the Psion is actually connected to should be selected.

I don't allow the PsiWin connection server to launch when the PC is booted and this is done by deleting its shortcut in:

C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

Someone else found this helped to get connected. Double clicking "My Psion" on the desktop or opening Windows Explorer and clicking "My Psion" launches the connection server when required.
