I just purchased a 3955 (no Bluetooth) and would like to connect to the net without purchasing and other accessories <expensive>. A friend of mines owns a 3800 series (with bluetooth) and he connects using his cradle and usb cable. Can I do this with mine? When I try to use IE, I get a message saying I can not connect to the net, please configure. I go to settings and I have no idea as to what to do. Help!

Here is a good article on how to setup passthru connections with ActiveSync:
http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/developer/technicalarticles/passthrough.asp?style=99

(If that link does not work, search www.pocketpc.com for the phrase "cradle surf".

I remembered seeing this note on the AtomicDB site (home of ADB Weather):

Configuring a 'Pass Through' connection...

If you are using a PocketPC 2002 device and ActiveSync 3.5, then you can take advantage of ActiveSync's new 'Pass Through' connection feature. The 'Pass Through' connection allows your PocketPC to directly share the internet connection from your desktop, thus allowing the use of internet-based applications on your PocketPC (e.g. Pocket Internet Explorer, email apps, ftp apps, etc.). To configure 'Pass Through' connection goto ActiveSync, Tools|Options, select 'Rules' tab, and then modify the 'Pass Through' connection section.
