Although my Revo and PC connect properly for some functions - e.g. uploading programs from PC to Revo - I cannot get the "drag and drop" function to work in any direction. If I try, the PC "bombs out" with the message: EXPLORER - this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down"
Has anyone any ideas how to fix this?
I suggest uninstalling Psiwin, running the registry cleaner that you can get at Mike McConnell's site (www.mikemcc.net) and reinstalling.

Tried your solution, but no go. The situation is exactly the same - PC hangs up, requiring a reset - same message: "EXPLORER This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down."
Hmm,
If you've tried a complete Psiwin reinstall, then I think Windows is at fault in some way. Only solution is to reinstall Windows :-(
Which version of Windows do you use, BTW?

Also what version of Psiwin are you using. I too had this problem with Win ME and Psiwin 2.3.1. Solved with 2.3.3 though.

I am using Windows 98 2nd edition, plus PsiWin 2.3. Must I re-install the WHOLE Windows, or can I just select Win Explorer (which seems to be the problem)?
It would need to be all of windows. However, since you state that you are using Psiwin 2.3, I suggest that before you do a windows install you downlaod psiwin 2.3.3 from psion, uninstall 2.3, run the registry cleaner, and install 2.3.3

Make sure you definitely have version 2.3.3 (Build 149). The Psion CD's just say 2.3 so you will need to check the About Psion 2.3 option on the help drop down menu.
2.3.3 is the very latest version which was released mid-late last year (not 100% about date as it was so long ago !!). This version is fully compatible with all Win OS's including XP. If you don't have it, you can download it from the Psion website (you may need to register with MyPsion section which is free). Be warned it is a 25mb file so if you don't have broadband/ADSL at home, it may wise to download it at work, assuming you have a faster connection there. If you already have this version I am a little stumped as never tried 2.3.3 with 98SE.
If no one else can suggest anything then a reinstall could be the only solution.
Hope you manage to get it sorted.

Downloaded version 3.3.1, installed and ran it - no difference! It looks like I will have to re-install Windows after all!

Oops - the version should have been 2.3.3, of course!

Sounds like an Explorer/Windows problem then. You could try a performing an operating system fix (saves a complete reinstall) but I think you know where is going to end up. But then heh what are bank holiday weekends for??........pc rebuilds of course !!
Hope you manage to get it sorted.

As per Si's suggestion, try running the 'System File Checker' in Windows 98.
Go to "Start > Run", type in sfc and click OK. Select "Scan for altered files" and let it tell you if any files are damaged. They can then be restored from the Win 98 CD.
I use PsiWin 2.3.1 with Win 98SE and haven't had any problems, although it is not my main PC and there isn't very much software installed in the machine to cause conflicts.
