My Philips Nino claims the Backup Battery is low. A message told me to replace it. I have found the battery but it appears to be soldered in place. If I can charge it, how? If I can replace it, how? Thanks!

I have found the battery but it appears to be soldered in place. If I can charge it, how? If I can replace it, how? Thanks! crugless 05-01-2003, 03:13 AM I have just found that the transformer was delivering the wrong charge to the Nino and the back - up battery was not being charged. The UK transformer was designed for 230V and was supposed to produce 12V @ 0.5amp, but in actual fact was delivering something like 19V from our 240V mains power in Australia. I tried another transformer that produced approx 12 to 13V and appear to be successfully charging all of the batteries in the Nino. Do you have a spare Serial232 (or sync) cable for a Nino?...I am certainly interested in acquiring one. Cheers & Good Luck crugless 05-06-2003, 02:02 AM Continuing the back up battery problem in the Philips Nino. I have just incorporated a new battery by unsoldering the previous battery and installing a new one and the unit is working fine. There are several 3V Lithium rechargeable batteries on the market. The battery that came out of my unit (Nino 200) is a 3V Sanyo ...430 MnO2 - Li battery, 24mm diameter x 2.5 mm thick, but probably old technology. Techpriest 05-06-2003, 06:47 PM Thanks for those that helped. I think my battery was just weak from being uncharged. After keeping fresh batteries in it for a week or two the backup battery came back and now shows charged. PDA Street
