I awoke one morning to find that my M515 would not come on. So I promptly did a reset (back button only).

No problem, the "PALM powered" logo came up but then it started cycling between a bright logo, dim logo, blank screen, bright logo, dim logo, blank screen and so on ad infinitum.

I have done a reset holding the scroll up button down and pressing the button at the back - no change - resets but starts reset loop again.

I have done a hard reset - power button and reset button at the back - and this produces the "Erase all data?" question. Since I backed up recently I selected the "up"button (scroll up button) and it paused for approximately 5 seconds before resuming the reset loop.

I then opened the unit and disconnected the battery. After some 30 to 45 seconds I reconnected the battery. Same result - reset loop.

Palm Support have suggested that the battery may have gotten very low which it did. So I needed to recharge the unit which I have. Next step .............. don't know.

I am hoping to be able to re-install OS 4.1 onto my Palm M515 but am not sure how to go about it. The upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1 will not work with Windows XP and I have Windows XP.

Any suggestions ?

It sounds like your motherboard is faulty. You can fix this by replacing it.
