to transfer files to the Sharp Zaurus i use the FTP server that runs on the Z, and connect with an FTP client, WS-FTP-LE. This works fine at home but at work i have to use the cradle. FTP is easy and i want to continue to use it as my file transfer system.
on the FTP client, I specify that the port is 4242. when the Z is in the USB cradle, i say the host address as 192.168.129.201, and when it's on my local LAN at home, using a network CF card, it's usually 192.168.1.102
I use root as a user and a space for the password. this all works but:
i would like to use the ftp server when i am not on the local network, like at work for instance, when the Z has a real TCP/IP address on our network. I can't get this to work. Is there some way to use FTP when the Z is on the network? I think it won't work unless it's IP begins with 198.162. for security reasons, but i would like to change or configure this.
thanks in advance for any info you have on the Z's FTP server
