i purchased my first iPAQ 2 days ago and love the heck outta it! :D

However, the manual says on page 16 that by taping on the X in the upper right corner, the application will minimize. applications should close automatically as you open new applications. however, if your compaq ipaq pocket pc is running slowly, manually close applications.

Question:
applications don't seem to close at all. i open a new application and the old one is still there when i minimize the new one. also, when i go to start> settings> today> system tab> running programs tab, all the programs are still running in the background. my ppc starts running very slowly if i don't stop these programs. how can i get them to stop without going through the settings menu? is there a patch or update?

thx,
slim

They donot close unless the programs auther write them to do so. If you are running a 3700, 3800, 3900 series, or a 3100, 3600 with the PocketPC 2002 upgrade iPAQ then you can press the right most button, with the swish arrow, this opens the itask app. Here you can tap and hold on the itask app. THis brings up a menu with a "close all tasks" and a couple other options. This "close all tasks" can also be made a menu option for the itask buttons at the bottom of the itask app. I there is anything else let me know.

Don't bother getting into all that trouble by using the iTask that comes with your iPAQ. The ultimate (in my opinion) app killer/task switcher is the one called PocketNav, and you can find it here:

Guess what....The stuff is free too!!!!! This guy has worked miracles...

Download it, follow installing instructions, and after it's in go to options and check the PPC2002 UI (User Interface). That's it you're set. This way you won't have to press hardware keys everytime you need to kill or switch between progs.
