Does anyone have any experience using a Palm and Clie on the same PC? I have used a Vx for some time and now have a T615C. I would like to continue to sync the Vx as well as the T615C to the same PC.
Do I continue to use the Palm software? If so what about the extra apps. for the T615C?
or
Do I uninstall the Palm software and install the Sony to the same directory? Will the extra programs affect my Vx.
or
Do I install the Sony software to a different directory and try to use the Palm for the Vx and the Sony for the T615C?
Thanks, Jim

It has been my understanding for some time that the Sony Desktop precluded syncing a Palm to the PC once the Sony was installed. I do not know this to be a fact.

I checked with a SONY loving friend. He says the SONY desktop must be installed and then the Palm will sync, but you need to give the Palm a different Hotsync name.
Of course if you give the Palm a different name then they will not share data. You can always beam to the Palm!
Best of luck.

DrMud, Thanks for the info. I have hotsync'ed the Sony to the Palm Desktop (upgraded to 4.1 and gave the Sony a unique user id) It does sync and I have duplicated the data (using pocket mirror to Outlook) Also used my Palm BackupBuddy backup files to load some apps to the Sony.
All that seems OK, guess I can pick and choose the MS, sound, picture apps ... from the Sony CD or an Sony install onto a temp folder or second computer to the Sony profile in the Palm directory.
Just wondering if someone else has done this already and found the traps.

Me to Doc!
If I have to go with what I know at this point I think I will install both Palm 4.1 and Sony to seperate directories and analyse the differences. Will post findings if you are interested. I'm looking at a week to 10 days to get to this.

I am not sure if this is correct. Please do some research on this elsewhere before trying it. I have not done this myself, and do not know if it will cause any problems/damage to your files (disclaimer over) :)
What I've read somewhere else on this forum, is that if you install the Sony version of the desktop first, and then install the Palm version over it, it will allow both unit to sync using the same userID. It had to be in that order, if you installed the Palm software first, it precluded you from syncing the Sony.
Again, I do not this as fact! It's just something I read here a while ago.

The only way I can see you will eliminate compatability issues of loading two different versions of Palm software OS is having a pc that has two diffent operating systems on the same PC.
