New Handhelds

Who if anyone is making new h/pcs? I am not that much of a fan of the PDAs yet rather prefer things like the LG Phenom with a keyboard. I have been searching and the newest I can find is from 2000. Are there any new ones out there? If not, then why not?

The NEC MobilePro 900 is new. It is currently shipping with the HPC2000 OS, but rumor has it that an update is coming soon. I have not used it myself, but reviews are available. The Intermec 6651 is an older model, but I understand it is still be produced.

There are also some Japanese models that can be imported and converted to English to one extent or another. Dynamism (http://www.dynamism.com) imports the Samsung Nexio which has a keyboard available. Check out http://handheld.pitas.com/ or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/handheldPCs for more info on some other models and options.

Actually, the S3 is pretty reasonable. According to one of the guys on the Yahoo group, he just purchased one for about US$525, including shipping to the US.

You would have to deal with some Japanese in the interface, but according to the reviews on the group, it's a great little device, great screen, and much of the software can be switched to English fairly easily.

Been eyeing one of those myself! :D

mobile pro 900c....with Win Ce Net 4.2 .. cd dvd drives can be hooked up.. WOW.. Win media player 9 and IE 6.. Cool. I have the japanese Sigmarion and it is good to go but the mobilepro is only for the US market, a plus for us finally...
