Hi everyone!!!

I have a couple of questions.

1. Is it possible to remove the O.S. 4.1? I wish to free up more Flash space (Jack Flash), and I read somewhere on these boards or elswhere, that you could revert back to the old version O.S. (I'm trying to get at th 2MB Flash memory in the Palm IIIc I read about somewhere.

The only thing that I've really gained from 4.1 is Notepad and the hint feature for password (Don't need either, I KNOW my password, and I'll just get Bugme or Handwrite, cause I don't need to look at notes on my desktop (in the palm desktop)

So far I only got 361k free in flash

Any help would be greatly appreciated. !!!

I know Ikno, I'm pushing it, please, bear with me :-)

Has anyone had any REAL success, or Know of any real succes stories or experiences with http://www.palmpilotupgrade.com./

????

I'm REALLY interested in adding 8mb, but I'm worried about how long it will last, and if it is reliable, because once the hardware is altered, that's it warranty!!! And I just got my IIIc 1 month ago!!!

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thank you in advance!!!!!!!

If you want to upgrade your IIIc with more memory it can't be done. Only some of the other Palm III models can be upgraded.

As far as reverting to an older version of the Palm OS, yes it can be done. You will need to find a OS 3.5 ROM image somewhere...

I hope Reggie will share with us the source of his knowledge regarding reverting to an earlier OS on the IIIc. I know that reverting is not possible on the 500 series. Another member of this board and I chased that possibility for the better part of a month and always came to the same wall that we started at: No Backing up!

PS: As to the memory issue Reggie is on target. You have all the memory you are ever going to have on a IIIc.

Thanks huys for your replies!!

I guess I'll just have to make due with what I have.

Thanks though!!!

P.S. Does anyone know why the IIIc can't be upgraded?

hold on!!!
what's the whole point lately of people who want to go back to older OS's 'cause they wish to mess around in ther flash? It's as if you think it can't be done in OS 4.1, but it can (i just did and was capable of putting agendus, Mlaunch and Handstory back in freeing up a small 1Mb) just be carefull what to remove and use one of the newer jacksprat/jackflash combo's (i used v2.5 for both).

Oh sorry, my bad. I think the problem reverting back to an earlier OS comes with the Palm flashing utility not wanting to do it. It could be done it sounds like the tools just aren't available...

The IIIc must use a different memory controller or something that wont allow more than 8MB.
