I'd like to send my diary from my netbook (master copy) to my 3650 to allow me to have a copy of my diary with me when I decide that the netbook is too large.

However, when I send more than 1 calendar entry (using vCal on the netbook to create a .vcs file of entries from my Agenda) to the Nokia via IR, when opened in the Messaging App it shows the first (and only the first) calendar entry from the file. Worse there are no options to save the file to disk (only into the Calendar)

There's now a program from SymbianWare called SmartvCal, which can import / export .vcd files into the Nokia Calendar.

However, I can't get the Nokia to accept the file without claiming it's a single calendar entry.

Any ideas?

Well, I've found a solution that generally works.

Send the file via IR to the Nokia 3650 (or any other Series 60 phone) and it will appear in the inbox as a single calendar entry (and even if you send the file as a .vcd file, it will be called .vcs)

Using a File Manager either find this file and rename or copy it elsewhere and rename (SmartvCal can read from the Inbox, so it can be left in place).

Once renamed to .vcd it will import into Calendar fine.

However, a few things....

In vCal, turn off Use Daylight Savings, but turn on Write Time Zone to VCS file (without these the entries came through with really weird times)

Thankfully, if you send the same entry again with a different time, SmartvCal offers to update the record (which allows you to test these things without worrying about duplicate entries).

For some reason, my Events (set in Agenda to occur at 8am) come through at 9pm (this appears to be an issue in vCal, not in the 3650 / SmartvCal side of things)

So, one diary loaded into my Nokia phone direct from my netbook :) and an easy method of updating it (resend the file and update all)

For some reason, my Events (set in Agenda to occur at 8am) come through at 9pm (this appears to be an issue in vCal, not in the 3650 / SmartvCal side of things)

I've fixed this - I've modified vCal to send a fixed time with each Event to get them to occur at the same time on both the Psion and the phone.

Hi Steve,

Great job. As soon as I have time I will try this with netBook and P800.

cheers

I'm actually working on seeing if the whole process can be made any smoother than it currently is. Once I've achieved that, I'll write it up somewhere.

The only thing is I don't know if there is a SmartvCal equivalent for the P800, or whether the P800 can handle a vCal file with multiple calendar entries in it (the Series 60 phones can't by default). However, if it doesn't, I would expect Symbianware to follow up with a P800 version.
