I bought a Palm Zire for my daughter last Christmas. It has gotten relatively little use, but now she wants to use it for school. The problem is, it won't take a charge. I tried using the charger supplied with it, and charging for 3 hours, but it dosen't work. The unit does work while the charger is plugged in, but that's no good.

Has anybody seen this behavior?

Does anybody have a cure?

Thanks

Have you tried soft-reset? If she has been constantly charging it or charging it every time that it is just a little drained then the battery is likely toast.

Also you might wanna try screwing with the "On while charging" setting? I dunno, it might be useful.

I don't think you could ruin the battery just like that. I think that it uses a Lithium-ion battery, which has no memory.

How long has she had the battery?

Sounds like you have had it less than a year.
Take or send it back, it should still be under the manufactures warranty.

I think the low-end zires only have a 90 day warrenty. Thats is a bad thing for palm.

I know. It really stinks how they ditch the warrenty, and hope that you buy a new one next year
