Hi
I am wondering if the 7 is more robust and durable than the other psion models. (Especially if the hinges and the screencable problems of the series 5 and 5 mx also are present on the seven.)
And I wonder if 256 colours is too little for my use, I am thinking about buying the excellent program Photo5 if I buy the 7. Will the results be god enough for graphicdesign jobs?
What sort of sound redcoding does it have if any?
And one final question. How many 7 have ben produced since their release? Will there be made new ones(I see their out of stock on psions webpage, but that more information will come in november)?

I cannot really comment about this except to say that my old netBook was still going strong after two years and my current one (about eighteen months old) is also fine. I would assume that the 7 and the netBook use the same components for the screen, hinges, etc. so it is probably safe to say that you should be okay for a while. This is not to say that the hinges and screen cable are indestructable but I think that they are more capable than those on their smaller brothers.

I would guess that you need more than 256 colours to produce professional graphics. This may be a job best left to a PC/Mac. Having said that, if you are producing cartoons or images with limited colours (logos, web graphics, etc.) then the restrictions should be bearable.

I'm going to leave this for someone else to answer but if it means anything to you, the same as the 5mx I think (excluding the external control buttons).

I have no idea how many have been produced in total and I would interpret their comment on the web site ("Out of stock. No futher stock expected until November.") to mean that they will be manufacturing more. If you want a device that is still under development and has a more assured future then you could look at the netBook rather than the 7.

Thank you for swift and good answers. I think I have to think more about it. But I figure that If I get at hold of one for the right price I'll go for a netbook or a 7 in addition to a MC218.

Good decision. I use a 5mx and a netBook in tandem and they are hard to beat.
