I use my 3955 iPAQ frequently outside in bright sunlight conditions. I also use a Belkin screen protector to reduce the glare. Does anyone know if there is some hidden method that can be used to increase the backlight level to a brighter setting than what is permitted with the normal range of adjustment procedures provided? For example, is there a internal potentiometer that can be adjusted to increase the backlight level?

Even with the transreflective TFT display, it is still hard to see the display under bright outdoor conditions

I don't have any answer about the backlight, but I can suggest try using it without screen protector, it tends to dim the screen. If you want to use screen protector, try WriteSHIELD. It promises to reduce glare and improve contrast.
