help me please....
I have a Zire 71 that went kind of berserk. When you would open the address book, it would select entries and move between fields even when you weren't touching anything. Palm blamed it on 3rd party software (I didn't have any installed), and said I should sync with my laptop, then do a hard reset. I did that and the problem was still there, so I sent it in for hardware repair.

Now I have the palm back, and if I do a hotsync, the sync goes through the motions and says it completed. Trouble is, none of the previous address book entries, photos, etc are moved to the palm. On the laptop, I can go into Program Files->Palm->user and open a binary file called address.dat and see all of the entries there (among binary characters), but they don't get transferred over to the palm. I went into the Custom menu, and selected "Desktop overwrites Palm" for the address book, photos, etc, and I see it go through these sections during the HotSync, but they don't show up on the palm.

Any ideas on how I can get the address book stuff back onto my palm???

Thanks,
Paul

Sounds like a bug (corruption) imbedded somewhere in your user folder in your PC's files. Try copying the ADDBK data to a floppy, then deleting ADDBK data from PC, do another hard reset, then paste data from floppy back into PC. AND if you ever get it all working, use a backup card. Also, I wouldn't use "Desktop Overwrights handheld" option..It has saved me many times. Good luck!
