Help! My Vx is dead...it was on and I was not able to turn it off. When recharging nothing happens. I did a soft reset and the "Palm Logo" came up but froze right there....
Any hope?
Your help will be much appreciated!

It sounds as though some of your software is acting up. I hope a recent HotSync has you backed up because you need to do a hard reset. Here is the drill: Hold down the Power on button. At the same time poke the reset pin in the reset hole. Remove the reset pin continue for 10 to 15 seconds to hold the Power on down till you see the Logo. Let the power button go. You should see a screen offering to remove all of your data if you push the scroll up button. Say Yes and you have done the Hard Reset.
Best regards,

I hope you haven't done a hard reset yet. A common problem with V(x)'s is the contast button on the top left sticks, which causes the Palm to lock up. Try pushing the button a few time to loosen it and it may start working, or you may need a soft reset, but shouldn't lose any data. I had this problem and went crazy trting to get it to work before finally finding out from Tech Support about this.
Many of the tech "experts" didn't know this either. Good luck.

tsan has a good point. The contrast button can cause the same error. If pushing it doesn't free it up you can even use your finger nail or tweezers to remove the contrast button and of course replace it.

Thanks again for your help.

DON'T DO A HARD RESET ON ANY PALM. even if it works or doesnt work. there are somethings that you have to do first, i don't remember exactly but don't do it without backing up the info on your computer.:o

kjman,
There are in fact situations that occur to a Palm that cannot be undone without a hard reset. Palm recommends them often during support sessions.
I have had many occasions to hard reset palms over the last 5 years and one 505 in particular that was frozen by a badly written hack. That 505 hard reset perhaps 25 times in total and it is still working and has been fine for more than a year since the episode with the hack.
A hard reset is not the same sort of event for the Palm that pulling the power cord out of a running PC or MAC would be. The Hard Reset simple removes all software that is not part of the OS.
