Help!

I have a Psion Series 7 and have in the past successfully used PsiWin under Windows 95 to do backups and transfer files.

I have now upgraded my PC to Windows 2000 and obtained the latest PSIWin from the Psion Web Site. Backups work fine but I want to transfer a large set of data in CSV format and access it from the Psion database tool. The Convert files option only offers a conversion to EPOC Word which is not what I want.

Has anyone come across this problem and does anyone have any ideas on how to fix?

Thanks in advance.

My suggestion here is to send the csv file to your Series 7 as a text file and then use the data Import function from within the Data Application (you may need to set up the fields first, I can't remember for sure). As far as I am aware, there is not a conversion option from CSV to Data in PsiWin.

I've had Win2000 for a few months now and I've yet to even install Psiwin.

Why? - because I have a CF drive for the PC to do backups etc and also nConvert for file conversion.

CF is also non-volatile and hence is inherently safer than normal Psion RAM memory.

The CF drive compatibility from Psion to PC is a killer app imho. You get, in effect, a USB port for the Psion. You can use that to backup (copy) the CF disk onto PC hard drive

PS. CF is also compatible with my digital camera and my MP3 player

Can you tell me more about nConvert please?

If it runs on the PC to do an appropriate conversion which can then be shipped to the Psion then that would be a great solution.

Thanks.

nConvert runs natively on the Psion so you are independent of any PC

It converts excel, rtf, text, ms access etc etc - and has a file recogniser for email

Cost for licence is £20, but trial is free

You can download nconvert from http://www.neuon.com/apps/nconvert/
