For those who have not been following the Screen Protector thread at http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=24779 , BoxWave now lists an iQue Screen Protector that will be shipping 10/10/2003. The BoxWave brand screen protectors were give an A rating at Brighthand.

I purchased a BoxWave screen Protector about 2 weeks ago on the recommendations I read here. I hadn't received it in a period of time I thought reasonable and I e-mailed them.
Their response was that because I noted in the comments area of their order form that I was going to use it with an iQue. that they were holding off shipping until they had this new product in stock.
I thanked them enthusiastically. :)

I preordered a boxwave screen protector, which they said was shipping on 10/10. I expected it to be shipped out on 10/10. However, when I emailed them, they said it would be shipped out on Tuesday. But when I checked my order status online, it was shipped out on Wednesday. As of today, I still have not gotten my product. Needless to say, I am not very satisfied with their service.

Mine shipped on Tuesday the 14th and was received on Friday so they are shipping but it was delayed. I had received notification from Boxwave of the delay via email when I placed the order.

Similar story here. I ordered Sept 25, they charged my credit card Sept 29, and I still haven't received it.
Their order status page today says:
Placed on: Thursday September 25, 2003
Shipped on: Wednesday, October 15, 2003
Delivery Estimate: Monday, October 20, 2003

Boxwave has a screen protector that fits the iQue perfectly long time ago. It is the same one for the Sony Clie NR/NX Series.

I ordered one when DeWat let us know that BoxWave would be shipping them--Thanks DeWat!
Ordered on Sunday, 10/5/03
They shipped one on 10/15/03
I received it USPS 10/18/03 w/delivery confirmation
Not the fastest shippers in the land, eh?
But worth it! I had a G2 and couldn't stand the reflective glare and the fingerprints. The BoxWave is much better, and I like the fact that it isn't as smooth as the G2--The G2 was just too smooth for me to write on.

I've had the sony boxwave one for two weeks now, its great, barely noticeable that its there, and has nice friction with "pen" characteristics. Glare seems to be cut down too, but still not perfect. One thing I wonder about is durability though, in two weeks there are noticeable "pen" marks on the protector, and I'll probably have to get a new one soon (so order the three pack if you can!) Then again, most of the visible lines are related to the movements to the 250 games of BeJeweled that my girlfriend and I have played so far..... :)

I have had the Boxwave part meant for Sony NX70 and it fits iQue perfectly. I wonder how the "new" iQue part is different from that. I love this screen protector. I don't like the fact that Boxwave website doesn't list a contact phone number for sales/customer support.

Well I just got my screen protector from BoxWave. Haven't tried it yet but someone should tell them that it's a Garmin, and not a Carmin. The sticker on the front of the packaging says: PDA Model. Carmin Series.

I email them on friday when I got mine about that..
I sent them:
Thank you for the info, I have recieved all my parts...
FYI: On your package for the ClearTouch, you have "CARMIN Series" instead of "GARMAN Series" for the PDA Model:

They just replied:
Dear Bruce,
Thank you for your update. We had noted the printing mistake on our first batch of the Garmin. How embarrassing!
If you have any questions about your ClearTouch, feel free to ask!

I just received my new Boxwave screen protectors. The package says they are made for the "Carmin" pda. What's that? (LOL) Hope they didn't print up too may of those package inserts...
Haven't tried them yet - I'm planning on trying one out tonight.

I'm a long time GPSer. The iQue is my first "Palm", and the BoxWave screen protector is my first screen protector. I just put my "Carmin" brand screen protector on tonight, and absolutely love it!!! It fits well, it looks good, and it feels good. I think it was a great investment... glad I got the 3-pack.

Update on my boxwave order. They originally said it would be shipped on the 10th. However, they emailed me and said it would be shipped the 14th. The online order status said shipped the 15th. In the end, my order was shipped on the 17th. Very poor service in my opinion.

It would have been easier to buy the Sony NX Series screen protector. I have my Sony Protector the very first day I bought my iQue, so I know my screen are scratch free.

Yea, their customer service does leave a little to be desired...I never received notification that the screen protectors shipped, but who cares, they arrived when they said they would, and so far it appears to be an excellent product - the best pda screen protector I have seen so far.
I would suggest you be a little more patient and order them anyways - they really are pretty good.

Am I the only person that thinks Boxwave's shipping rates are ridiculous. $2.50 for something that weighs a few ounces! And if you get the three-pack it's $4.50!!! Why 2 dollars more for a few more ounces? I can understand that this is standard practice for a lot of mail order businesses but we're talking about flat really light pieces of plastic that can fit in a regular envelope. We're talking $0.37 for first class USPS.
I think Boxwave is making a huge mistake by trying to rip it's customers off by trying to make more money from the shipping. I personally think they would sell more of these things if they didn't try to cheat on the shipping. It will only hurt them in the long run. They've at least lost me as a customer. This is a matter of principle, not money. Do business fairly or don't do business at all!

Yes, I think their shipping rates are ridiculous. You would think that with the profit margin on the product itself (which has got to be in the 1000's of percent) that they could charge resonable shipping.
That being said, I did order from them. I was thinking about ordering from http://shop.brando.com.hk/ which sells the brando screen protector for $12 including the shipping. I've heard that it's very similiar to the boxwave. The reason that I did buy from boxwave is that they have a 14 day satisfaction guarentee, and since I was a little sckeptical about how good it was I decided to go with boxwave since I could get my money back if I didn't like it. The only other screen protector I tried was the WriteWrites which were absolute crap. And I've made my own from vinyl and from transparencies with different levels of sucess. I found one brand of transparency that had a good feel and not too cloudy, but it scratched up too easily. I found another brand that had a good feel and didn't scratch easily, but was too cloudy in outdoor light (looked fine inside). I'll still look around for a good material, but in the mean time I'm really happy with the boxwave, for me I think it has the right balance of clarity and glare reduction, has a good feel to it, and after about 2 weeks doesn't have any visable scratches.

No you are not the only one. When your cheap piece of plastic gets higher ratings than everyone else's cheap piece of plastic you get to charge even more to the customers plastic (credit card).

I got mine the other day, and it had some lint (or whatever) on the *sticky* side. I tried to live with it ... but I can't. It's virtually impossible to get off from that side. I e-mailed them today asking for an exchange, we'll see what happens.
I'll also say that although nobody twisted my arm .. $13 clams is a little steep for a tiny, thin piece of plastic film. I must be in the wrong business.
If for whatever reason, they do not make good on it ... I won't be replacing it. The screen looks much better in the buff .. and I'll just have to be more careful.

Why would they...
When all they have to do is send you another one. It will only cost them about $0.42:
$0.37 (shipping) and $0.05 for the plastic sheet = $0.42!
I agree, Curious Cat...we're in the wrong business.

Did the postage on the front really say $.37? When I ordered mine, I also ordered their cable (which I love, the switchable attachments are great!), the shipping wasn't excessive. I'm guessing, but they probably considered the shipping on dollar basis and not weight basis, or some other reason than highway robbery. I'm sure if enough customers say something, they would gladly change their shipping costs to reflect when someone orders a protector, who's price/weight ratio is higher than most of their other products. Also, shipping prices rise quickly once the ounces start getting added on. Anything under an oz is 37 cents, but its starts adding up, and for example, at 9 oz it costs $2.20 to ship first class. I'm guessing here, but the packaging for the protector itself is an oz, if I remember correctly it contained some cardboard and shrink wrap.... But this is just a guess.
I do have to say though, that the 12 bucks it costs to order was pretty excessive, and though I'm impressed with the quality, I would be a more satisfied customer i f the price were lower, because it would allow me to order more and replace them more often. At 12 bucks, I'm going to wait till mine needs an absolute replacement before buying a new one, but if they were a little bit cheaper, I'd be buying them more regularly.

oh, and delivery confirmation adds on $.45 to the total, fyi. Well it does if you go to the post office, not sure if its cheaper if you have a business acct.

Bobby, if you want to give it another try, by removing it, use some scotch tape to take the lint off of the sticky side.

DeWat And they deserve that A rating. I liked the G2, but I had the same problem the Brighthand article reported, a slight degradation in graffiti recognition. Just enough to drive me batty at times! :) So I bit the bullet and bought the Boxwave. Of course when I buy, I buy three at a time.....so now I've got 2 G-2's to add to the Covertec case.....maybe it's time for an iQue yard sale!:p

Just got my boxwave cleartouch's today and am loving it! I used to have...drumroll...concept kitchens wrightrights (before any of the other screen prot. came out) for my Palm V, and never bought another screen protector again. Finally, reassurance that there is a great screen protector. It feels like writing on paper, and without teh guilt that i am ruining my beautiful iQue screen.
does anyone want to sell me just 1 boxwave for $10/shipped (those who bought 3 pack)?
I just received my Boxwave 3-pack of of ClearTouch protectors and I don't think I got the correct ones. Mine measure 1.75 inch by 1.75 inch. They don't come close to covering the entire screen of the IQue. I have an email into Boxwave but hoping to get some feedback here as to what the correct size should be.
Thanks

you definitely got the wrong ones.
Boxwave should really do better in their shipping dept, though I think once you get the right one, you'll be happy with the product.
Thanks for the confirmation on the wrong size. I am disappointed in their organizational skills in the shipping department - the packaging for the ClearTouch has absolutely NO indication (PDA model or unit number) on the package. How do they tell which is the correct one to send a customer????? Probably they just pull from a bin and ASSUME every one in there is for the PDA on the bin label.
At least they now know it is a Garmin product.
BoxWave are you listening? Where is the accountability?

JGB The correct screen protectors for the iQue will say "Carmin" on them, not "Garmin"! ;)
Mine (wrong size) say "Remove this Backing"... that's it!
An earlier post from a Customer Service rep at BoxWave acknowledged the typo of Carmin for Garmin and indicated it had been taken care of but I am sure there are many packages still in the shipping bins/pipeline.
I am awaiting BoxWave's reply to my query regarding receiving the wrong item.

:) Just finished an email disourse with Mel at BoxWave customer service. Problem with incorrect product is solved. He is shipping new at no cost to me and will reimburse me up to $1.50 to return the incorrect ClearTouch products. Now that is a positive customer relations move.
On another positive note my original order was received in 3 days USPS - and that was from West coast to East Coast.
Part of my order included a miniSync cable and that product is working A-OK and a great accessory to have whether you are on the go or not.

That probably because they used Priority Mail, my new favorite shipping type, especially for things that fit inside those flat rate envelopes....

I ordered the three-pack of screen protectors and a mini-sync cable from Boxwave on friday, and it arrived yesterday. I picked it up at the post office this morning, and haven't had a chance to try any of it out yet.
With regards to shipping costs on such a small item, they are shipping it Priority Mail , and it comes in a small lightly padded package, not just an envelope, so I don't think asserting "shipping should be 37 cents" is really fair.

Seriously, I have a problem paying $4.95 shipping when I *know* it cost them less than a buck to ship it to me. They're making enough money on the product, to profit that highly from the shipping is ridiculous. I feel the same way about any mail order item. Bricks and Mortar stores have rent to pay and employees that help customers to pay, they figure their profit into the product. So should mail order firms.

usps.com tells me that Priority Mail flat-rate shipping is $3.85 for a 4oz package from Bellevue, WA (where Boxwave is) to my zipcode. And that's without insurance or delivery confirmation or anything else.
Satisfied?
In defense of BoxWave shipping -
I was charged $6.00 from WA to PA
Shipment arrived in 3 days
Priority Mail - flat fee to all US Zones = $3.85
Signature Guarantee - $1.80
Subtotal Ship ............$5.65
Est. Cost of padded Jiffy Pack..... .........$0.35
Total..........$6.00
Explain to me where they made ANY profit on Shipping, not to mention Handling.

For my shipment, they didn't use priority mail- they used first class mail, which is far cheaper. Plus, they didn't use signature guarantee, just a delivery of confirmation, so that's cheaper as well.
Total cost ~$1.
Total charged $2.50.
Markup: ~150%

Threads will drift where they will.
Priority mail is up to a pound. This package weighed less than two ounces. There was no signature guarantee, and if they're paying that much for Jiffy Packs, they're getting robbed. The G-2's I ordered from PDA Performance shipped via regular First Class Mail, and I was charged what it cost, 60 cents. Make me happy (although I like the Boxwaves better).
I shipped for many, many years, via many methods. I am well aware of shipping costs. They are making a profit off of it. Which will always irk me. Sorry.
