is it possible to turn the zire into a webcam ?

The closest you can get the Zire 71 to a webcam is to make the Zire 71 take pics at a predetermined time with a certain time delay. But if you're hoping to make it a webcam where you can chat or stream video, then that will never happen.
For the time lapse picture taking, there is a program out there called Fun Cam, but at $12.95, it may be a bit expensive for the Zire 71 since that's the only feature that works for the Zire 71. For other PDAs, it can take voice recordings, be controlled via infrared, etc.
