Hi all. I started reading this board several months ago, but I have never posted till today, so first of all I want to thank you for all the insteresting information you bring here.
I am thirty one years old and I have been using Palm PDAs since the first PalmPilot appeared. Now I was decided to upgrade my Tungsten T to a T3 when I started hearing about the SD problem.
Since then I have read in many forums people complaining about this issue, but I do not know if it really affects everyone. So I think it would be interesting to start this poll for knowing how many people is really in troubles with this matter.
Palm is asking for information from people who experience this problem (http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=6086) and perhaps it would be very useful to know this information (manufacturer of your SD card,
serial number of your SD card and size) also if your card works flawlessly.
Please let us know this information and tell us if your SD works fine or not.
Regards.
Please

Well I've only had mine a few days, but no problems yet. I'm using a 256 Lexar SD Card. Card Info shows it to be a Panasonic.

Same here...have had the device for five days now and the 256 MB Lexar card is still functioning and still showing the appropriate amount of available space left on it.

as i know there i a definitly a problem but mine might have been due to my error of arborting the transfer mid way (not that the software should let theat physically dammage the card but hi ho) out of interes have any of the people that have tried there cards had any success if they for example only write to SD from usb and ONLY read on T3 or has anyone had a killed card from read as well?

Just read in another forum that a T3 owner had a SanDisk SD 256 fried. Looks as though SanDisk agreed to replace the SD, and did. So, maybe progress is being made.
BTW, I'm using a Lexar 256 and a Lexar 512, by Panasonic, interchangeably in my T3. Both are doing quite well.

I'm using a 64 meg Sandisk for a week now with no problems. I have been pretty active placing apps and data on card.

I just got the T3 last Thursday, then a SD 256mb card over the weekend. I was loading MP3 files yesterday and kept getting error messages on individual files. As soon as I deleted the file from the list of clips to add, and restarted the Transfer, RealOne would proceed with the uploading.
When I went to listen to the tunes (I had finally successfully uploaded about 40 files), there were only TWO files listed on the card. I checked and RealOne said there was 30mb free out of 240mb on the card. But there were only those two files listed.
I reformatted the card and did the whole process over again. This time, I still had the same error message but was able to upload the set of 40 or so tunes.
I'm glad I didn't have any real data on the card or it would have been lost.

Please take a look at this, perhaps this problem is not only Palm's fault ... It is specially interesting to check that none of the 269 japanesse SD-Cards reported fails.

Just FYI....better than one week now, loading programs to Lexar 256MB SD card as well as loading and unloading many mp3s. So far there isn't an issue with the card.
Of interest, the Lexar card I own was made in Japan and does not contain any of the noted 'trouble' serial number(s) as listed in the links above.

got a Sandisk yesterday when I purchased the T3 and failed after 1 minute of use!!!
Just went went out and got a Panasonic SD 65Mb (cheaper actually than the Sandisk) and works like a dream... so far!!
If it stays like that, guess I will keep the T3...
Read the Link posted on this Forum... basically I guess any card will work as long as it says: Made in JAPAN:D :

I have 2 DaneElec 128MB cards, which I have been using for over six months, first in my TT and now in my T3, no problem. Also I just bought a ByteStor 128MB, though I haven't needed to use it much yet. I always avoid SanDisk cards, esp. the larger ones, ever since I heard exactly this problem on the Sharp Zaurus forums. Since it's not just a Palm problem, I'm thinking they just don't make them to the highest standards...

so gar the Panasonic is holding up nicely and I keep my fingers crossed...
Palm support did respond to my query though which I must say was nice as usually companies just ignire their users (I should know:cool: )
They say to keep on checking their site for any updates etc..

Purchased a sandisk 512 sd card for mp3's about a month ago.
Is this going to "fry" once I load it into a T3?
Worked fine on my TT.
Just curious.

So far (4 days) my sandisk 256 sd card has been working fine. No loss of data or "fried" cards.
A little worried about loading the 512 card then having it fry. Guess I need to just give it a try and stop worring about it.

Based on the evidence, it appears as if there is a problem between the T3's and the Sandisk SD cards of various capacities.
