Is it possible to run epoc or emultate epoc on other handhelds without being too disabled?

don't know if the EPOC emulator will run on CE at all - would you be up for trying it out and letting us know? ;)

I would love to announce the triumphant running of epoc on a suitable hp journada, but alas an experiment like that will not fit into my budget...

I was hoping that this could be a road to salvation the day Psions machines are harder to get by than they are today... Anyone else have a clue?

I can't imagine that the emulator would run under Windows CE. As far as I know, it needs either Windows or NT. CE is not just a cut down version Windows - it's a completely different operating system. That's why there's Pocket Outlook instead of Outlook, etc. Then there's always the issue of the 25 MB of disk space you need to install the emulator and the 100 or so MB or RAM the emulator eats on my PC when it's being run.

It's a bit hidden in the depths! You need to register with the Psion Teklogix Partner Program (it's free) at:

http://www.psionteklogix.com/ptxcms/CORE.asp?s=com&p=PartnerProgram

Once registered you will have access to downloads. I got my emulator from the Netpad section > EPOC Downloads > Symbian OS V5 SDK for Java - that's the smallest download, although it is still 16.5Mb

Hope that helps

Julie

Today is 20th Feb 2010. Is the Symbian OS V5 SDK Emulator still available anywhere? I can't find it anywhere on the Teklogix site...

Thanks in advance. Giorni

I failed searching in the Internet for the emulator files. Bought in eBay the "Symbian Programming" book with the CD inside. There was the SDK Emulator.

I was able to download it from Psion Teklogix a week ago - you do have to register (free) and login via TekNet (http://teknet.psionteklogix.com/teknet) first. Then the necessary SDKs can be accessed in the Netpad section - just download the Java SDK as it is the smallest (16.5MB).

Just a quick note - the TekNet new user registration page is here (http://community.psionteklogix.com/user/CreateUser.aspx?ReturnUrl=).

Hi Stargazer, that is not the registration for teknet. That is the registration for the PSION Teklogix community. I've registrated on that page but the login doesn't work for teknet. Teknet seems to have a different registration page but I can't seem to find it. Any help?
