What can be used to protect the screen? Is there some kind of transparent overlay you can use to place over the screen? Maybe the screen is robust enough but I wonder if after 1000’s of taps and many cleans that it might eventually start to look a bit scratched and worse for wear. Any ideas if there is something to protect the screen?

There are many different manufacturers of screen protectors, and you will find a few posts on this forum concerning the different makes. After reading about a few myself, on this forum i decided to go for the Brando make. The web site is :-

and the item page is :-

and as you will see they now make one specifically for the iQue, and it cost approx $12(US) or £7(GB). Mine took approx 7 days to be delivered to the UK from Hong Kong.
The screen protector itself has a slight matt finish to it which helps to reduce glare (slightly), it does not have a glued surface and can be taken off for cleaning ect. It is a good fit and does not move or fall off. It's quite heavy duty and does desensitize slightly, but only slightly and you soon get used to it

I used the Clie PEG-NX/NZ/NR Series Screen protector from Sony. They are exact fit to your ique without any modification. and they cost about $9.99 at your local retail store. I got mine from Fry's electronics. so I assume if you don't have a Fry near you, you can always order one from www.outpost.com
I believe the SKU# for outpost.com is 3433683
