Hello all, had my ique for about 3 weeks now and very impressed with it, I have been monitoring this forum and found it very informative, particularly with regards to accessories. I purchased the autonav kit and I am more than happy with it, it fits snugly in the cradle and the ease of use and voice clarity through the speaker is excellent. I have a soft top so the clarity and volume was of particular importance. One question though is whilst on the autonav cradle I notice it still switches off after 3 minutes. On the preferences menu I notice it gives you the option of varying the length of the auto-off but then the next option is a toggle to stay on in the cradle. I have the box checked for stay on in the cradle but it still switches off, this is particularly annoying in the car if you have GPS on and just enjoying the fact that you know which direction you are going in, speed and approach roads. Am I doing something wrong??

Is the NAV Kit definately charging the iQue? If not then it will turn off.

contradicting facts:

Voice prompts come over speaker. That can only happen if 12 V is connected (because I don't think the iQue has the internal power to drive a speaker and the necessary audio amp). Needs to be tested thought, can't do that right now.

Even when stay on in cradle box is ticked, the unit still goes out after three minutes.

The logical explanation would be that the audio circuit in the cig plug is powered but the connection to the cradle is interrupted.

Test this: Antenna flap in. ique in cradle. Cig plug in. Now connect external antenna. If the unit powers on by itself and shows the map page automatically it has power from the cradle. Of course, you should also see the charging LED green light as power is on from the cradle.

If all this is inconclusive, contact Garmin support or ask a shop to lend you another cradle for a test.

With iQue off and connected to NAV kit, did you see the green power light stay on? can you tell if iQue was chargeing from NAV kit? iQue will stay on if charging voltage present and stay on box checked. Does your iQue be able to stay on in your hotsync cradle?

Thanks guys for the prompt replies.
There is definately power from the autonav cradler because the green light on the on button is permanantly illuminated and the battery symbol on the small window down the bottom has the small electricity icon, and I have noticed even in the hotsync cradle it powers off after the obligatory 3 minutes.

papagolf,
Only a guess, there might be a software conflict between your 3rd party apps and the ique. I know this is a lot of trouble, but you might want to try a soft reset first and if the problem still exist, try a hardware reset.. I know it's easier say then done. but that's what I would do if I am you. (Because I don't think it's a hardware issue, but more like a software issue)

Go to SECURITY, and make sure that autolock option is set to NEVER. This will correct your problem. This problem may be corrected with the upcoming firmware update.
