Has any one found a portable keyboard for the e740 yet?

Thanks all!

The "Universal Wireless PDA Keyboard" by Microinnovations works great with Toshiba E740 and right now you can get $20 rebate (until 10/28) if you buy it at Radioshack.

I'd really like to get the Flexis keyboard for my e740 but I have no idea if it's compatible... the e740 is not listed on the flexis website. Flexis has a keyboard that's waterproof, rolls up and is slim for those of you that haven't heard of them.

After discovering the Built in Transcriber and how to use it properly I dont think I will ever need a keyboard....

I have to agree, I just discovered the transcriber yesterday. It really works nice. The people I've showed it to were amazed. The more I use this PDA, the happier I am with it. I'm reluctantly preparing to send the unit back for the recall... I figure it's best to just get it taken care of. I figure I'll send it back monday morning and hopefully receive it back by Thursday or Friday. They say it is a one day turn around from the day they receive the unit. I'm actually glad there was a recall, I'm sure it's the reason I only paid $379 for it at compuplus.

YOu might wanna check with the store you bought it from. a lot of them had already got the unit check by Toshiba. My unit is in the Units for recalll. But I tried it, and it works great. No problem. I think as I read that you will lose data, either because the Battery is fully charged, or (which I heard most even from Toshiba support) when it is full discharged or when you try to replace it you will lose the data.
If you recently bought it. Back it up first (Full Back up) then try it ur self, have it full charged then fully discharged. I even took the batter out to try that, and my unit still works fine.

By the way DO NOT turn the white switch to the right because that is considered a HARD reset and you will lose everything even if the battery was still in.

Actually you should not restore your backup, due to the firmware being updated. for instance registry settings and .dll files will be altered from the time you preform your backup. It is a better idea to save important files to your computer, but do not make a backup image to restore when you receive the item back.

btw there is no noticeable problem with my unit, however I would feel more peace of mind knowing that my unit has been updated. If it HAD been updated I'm certain that Toshiba would have that information in their database when I provided them my serial number. The e740 is a great unit, and I have only had a couple minor issues with it.

For instance, and I don't know if this is related to the recall, I had the unit stop responding to the power button. At first I thought it was due to a low battery, but even after taking it home and puting it on the charger I could not get the unit to power up. I had to do a hard reset.... after a few hours the unit worked fine. When I reinstalled my CF card, the unit stopped responding again. I did a hard reset... waited a few hours. After that everything has worked fine for the past 5 days, even with the CF card... which I whiped clean (did not reformat).

I hope that with this update any bugs that my unit might have, will hopefully be eliminated.
