Hi!Can anyone give me SIMPLE, idiot-proof instructions on how to send e-mails with my PDA?Don't say "read the manual" because I already did and for the life of me, it didn't make sense! For one, the network - services (drop down list) "offered" aren't available here in Germany... we don't have At&T here for example! My celphone has this IR thing for sending fax and the like - does that mean I can use my cel to send mails written in my Clié? If so,how can I get it to "communicate" with my PDA so it can send (or receive) my E-mails? In other words, I truly wish to use the Mail function but don't know where to start when it comes to configuration-neither my celphone nor my PDA.:(
Please help me anyone with much more experience on these high tech stuffs ... I got it as a gift and am getting cross-eyed trying to make sense of the manual! Bless you (for the patience and the understanding)!

If your cell phone has an IR port then it should be data capable, so there are two ways you can try using it.

1. Use your cell phone as a wireless modem. Your Clie can link to your cell phone via IR ports and dial up to your ISP through your cell phone. You can then email and use the internet.

2. If your cell phone has a built in browser you can activate wireless internet through your cell phone carrier. Then you can IR link or use a cable from supplynet to connect your cell phone to your Clie and you can email and use the internet.

Assuming your mobile has an IR port and built in modem the following will allow you to make an internet connection over IR:

1. Goto Prefs and from the top right drop down menu pick Network.
2. Pick a service from the list and rename it to your ISP.
3. Add your user name and password for your ISP.
4. For connection choose IR to modem
5. Enter the dial up number for your ISP next to phone.
6. Select details and ensure that Connection type is PPP, Query DNS is ticked and IP Address is automatic.

Enable Infrared connection on your phone and align the 'eyes' then hit the connect button. Your phone should now dial out and connect to your ISP.

You'll also need to configure your email program with POP/SMTP servers from your ISP. Setup depends on the email program you're using.

Hope this helps

Ever assuming you have an IR/modem phone I recommend the (free) Eudora Internet suite. To save space you can install just the Email part. It has a very easy wizard for setting up accounts.
("Mail" is meant for desktop-synching, not as a stand-alone application)
