I just bought a new h1910 and my main battery works and charges fine...

I noticed that the section in the power management has a place listed for the 'Backup Battery - NiMH'. It says 0% charge now, and it has said that from the first time I ever used the unit?

Is this normal? If there is a backup battery, is it replaceable or do I need to contact HP support??

Confused.

The backup battery should be charged at the same time and it should be there. It is used when you replace the main battery to hold the data for a while. If you took the main battery out and it immediately loses all data, then the backup battery is dead. Otherwise, the bacup battery probably is still there but something wrong with the meter.

Indeed I took the main battery out and all the info was lost... so my backup battery is dead.

Is it replaceable or do I have to call HP service... I can't see anywhere that looks like I can install a new one?

Thanks...

I think the backup battery is only serviceable by technician. The easiest way is to exchange for a new one. You never know what other problem is there for a lemon.

Tech at HP wants me to hard reset a few times and see if that corrects the issue. Will do a full backup tomorrow to see if he's right or not...

Yuk. This isn't fun...
