I have already successfully set up my Telewest Blueyonder e-mail account on my 5mx and now I am trying to set up my Virgin e-mail account on it as well.
I can successfully receive e-mails on my 5mx via my Nokia but when I try to send one I get an 'unknown error trying to send e-mail'. I have set the Virgin account up exactly the same way I set up the Blueyonder account except in Internet Service under Control Panel, I have not entered any Primary or Secondary DNS Addresses but have left the 'Get DNS address from server' box checked.
The Blueyonder account works perfectly.
Has anyone any clues as to where I have gone wrong ?.

Your problem almost certainly comes down to the fact that you must use the SMTP outgoing mail server of the ISP you are connecting to the internet with.

Connect to the internet with Blue Yonder - use Blue Yonder's SMTP server.

Connect to the internet with Virgin - use Virgin's SMTP server.

Make sure that one of your "Accounts" in Email is set as default. This is the configuration which will be used for a send only mail session, so be sure to connect to the internet with the ISP whose configuration is set as default.

The alternative, which I always use, is to have "Auto send on opening" enabled in the Outgoing mail settings so that by connecting with, say, Virgin and then opening the Virgin mailbox first, all outgoing mail will be sent using Virgin's server. Similarly, connect with Blue Yonder, open their mailbox first and all outgoing mail will be sent with Blue Yonder's server.

However, you must still set one "Account" as default to prevent the program becoming confused :)

Cheers Mike,

I thought the answer would be fairly simple but I'm still on my Psion learning curve.
