Does anybody know how to sync the revo's contacts and agenda with the Netbook? I have found Epocsync, but as far as I can tell this is jsut for syncing files in a particular directory. Can this be used to sync agenda and contacts too?
thanks,
D

It depends on what you mean by "sync". If you want to have a single file on your Netbook be updated with information from your Revo, then no, EpocSync cannot do that. Sorry.
However, a bit of lateral thinking may solve your problem:
In my case, I have a single Contacts shared between both my Revo & Netbook. I simply make sure that I only make changes on ONE machine, and not the other, UNTIL I have used EpocSync.
There is a program to allow multiple Contact databases to be used, and with a bit of care you MIGHT be able to have one for the Revo & one for the Netbook, and therefore not worry about keeping both synchronised. But this will give you two Contact lists, which may not be what you want.
Agenda & any other files have similar possible solutions; either only update one machine until you have synched, or keep two separate files that do not contain the same information.
Personally, I only use my Agenda on my Revo, so this is not a problem.

Thanks Chris, good point.
One question:where do Ifind the contacts and agenda database files themselves?
Also, does anybody know how to block copy contacts from Phoneman pro into the revo's internal contacts database?
thanks,
David.

One question: where do I find the contacts and agenda database files themselves? Contacts are in C:\System\Data\Contacts.cdb and must remain in that path in the Revo. Although in the netBook the 'Contacts' message store can be moved to Compact Flash, it will have to remain in the same path as the Revo if you want to use EpocSync.
Your "Agenda" file can have any name and be in any folder you want, but by default it will have been called "Agenda" and be in the path C:\Documents\Agenda

I may be missing the obvious but how do I get Epocsync to synch my three other "agenda" files?

It's quite a while since I played with EpocSync (I seem to recall that it totally screwed up my Psion "Money" files) but provided the files have the same names and are in the same path in both machines the newer file will overwrite the older - that's what the program does. Are you trying to do something more complex?

I assumed that entering agenda in a profile would synch all agenda files - have now entered the path of each "agenda" file but things have now gone haywire - will revert

If you use EpocSync correctly, it will work very well. I'm not sure what you mean by "gone haywire"...
In my experience, it is best that both Revo & Netbook share the same folder structure, when using EpocSync. As an example, both Reov & Netbook have these folders:
C:\Documents\
C:\Documents\Revo\
C:\Documents\Series7\
Any files that are generally updated on my Revo, are put in the Revo folder. Any files that are generally updated on my Netbook are put in the Series7 folder. And any files I tend to update on both (such as Money), are put in the main C:\Documents folder.
This way it is (a) incredibly difficult to accidentally update a file on both machines, and (b) easy to see if the wrong file has been updated (by EpocSync) so that you can then put the original file back (as it will have been put in the Archive folder).
To synchronise my Revo & Netbook, I only need a SINGLE entry in the profiles:
C:\Documents\
Of course, you will need extra lines for Contacts & the like, which are not stored within Documents.
Hope this helps

To answer your original question David, have you installed the 'Contacts View' add-on for Phoneman? Its available at www.zenobyte.com, and there is also a forum there, moderated by the author himself - I'd try posting your question there.

The original Q was about 'syncing' Contacts/Agenda between two Psion devices

Thank you mike, diem and all,
Ihave now sussed out all the problem associated with syncing, etc. that started the thread.
I've got epocsync doing what I wanted it to do, thanks mike for the path names for those files.
As for phoneman, thanks diem, indeed the contacts view plug-in sorted my problems... it took some fiddling about but it turns out to be really easy to copy between the two books.
cheers,
david
