A buzzin Psion

I recently bought a new Psion 5Mx after my last one died of the fatal screen problem. The new one had an intermittent buzzing sound when turned on. It then settled to only buzz when the back light was on. I sent it back to Psion who returned it still buzzing. When I rang them they said all Psions do this. Is this an upgrade that I'm unaware of? My previous Psion did not do this. Is this a sign it might die prematurely?

I don't know if some buzz louder than others, but indeed all 5's and 5mx's in my experience have a buzzing backlight.

It's actually a bad sign if they don't buzz - it means the backlight isn't working properly! Mine used to intermittently buzz, justbefore the backlight died. :( The way a backlight works means it should buzz, I'm afraid! Take it as a sign it works! :D

My wife's 5mx doesn't wine(whine?) when the backlight is on, but mine does.... should I be jealous?

I always thought that the more noise it made, the more notice you would get so the better it would be.... :D Not that I like to show off my Psion, of course.... ;)
