Can anyone tell me if this is possible - and how to do it if it is?
I have a large number of names and data in Contacts on my Revo and would like to export these onto my Netbook. Is it possible to use Data to handle the information as the Netbook doesn't have Contacts?
Do I need to export the data first or just transfer some data files over the IRDA link?
I'm afraid I am a long way from home without the manuals so keep it simple or explain in detail.
Email might help too

Obviously remove NOSPAM first!

The netBook does have the Contacts application. This being the case simply beam the c:\system\data\contacts.cdb file from your Revo to your netBook;s c:\system\data directory (you might need to show the system folder via the Preferences option in the System screen's menu.

I tried that first of all but my Netbook didn't seem to know what to do with the file and gave an application not found error.
I'll have another look at it - thanks for the steer.

You cannot launch the Contacts application via the contacts.cdb file ... you need to launch Contacts itself. You can do this via the silk screen button on the right of the screen (fifth one down).

Thanks to those who gave some guidance.
I've now managed the transfer from the Revo to the Netbook and got the Contacts info into the Contacts app. All works as it should.
I had a little trouble with the different way that Epoch handles data files. My other preferred OS (RISC OS) automatically launches the required program to read the data file (once it is set up correctly anyway).
So thanks again.

Glad you got it working. Most EPOC files are associated with their application (some third-party applications are the exception) and I think that the Contacts data file breaks this rule simply because it is not meant to be played with by users. The EPOC Contacts application only supports one contacts.cdb file (ie you can only have one contacts list) and this is hidden away in the System directory so I guess that Psion (now Symbian) decided that a file association was not needed.
